As a national organization, Camp Fire has more than 100 years experience in youth development and is one of America’s most progressive community based youth development organizations. Camp Fire Northwest Ohio reaches over 5,000 boys and girls ages 3 to 18 across three counties in Northwest Ohio. Camp Fire Northwest Ohio’s diverse programs are supported by over 150 dedicated volunteers, 20 regular and seasonal staff, board members and community funders. Through its model of program quality and outcomes-based youth leadership and development, the Northwest Ohio council partners with community organizations and member families to help youth experience Camp Fire, find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are. It is Camp Fire Northwest Ohio’s reputation for program quality and leadership in collaborations that has helped fuel the council’s increased demand for programming in the communities it serves.

The CEO, in partnership with the Board, will be charged with expanding opportunities for youth in the 3 counties served in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization. The CEO promotes Camp Fire visibility and will provide change leadership to advance a vibrant and challenging environment for youth in all the communities served. The visionary and strategic leadership of the CEO is essential to fulfill the mandate of Camp Fire: to pick up where schools leave off, by providing high-quality programs both during school, in the out-of-school hours and during the summer.
The CEO will have responsibility for fundraising and development initiatives, management of senior leadership staff and the achievement of diversity goals for the organization's operations. Additional responsibilities include financial accountability over the annual budget and property accountability over multiple properties, camps and facilities. The successful CEO will inspire staff to work to their fullest potential, taking a lead role in the creation of a culture of excellence at Camp Fire.
Camp Fire Northwest Ohio is headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, the county seat of Hancock County. Findlay is conveniently located on Interstate 75, and is within a day’s drive of most of the eastern United States. Industry and agriculture combined to provide a strong and well-integrated basis for the community’s prosperity. The majority of Findlay’s manufacturing plants have grown from within the community itself, although others have been attracted by the positive business climate. Findlay boasts beautiful and well appointed parks and community spaces. Findlay’s historic downtown offers a blend of beautifully restored buildings and unique retail store. The downtown area embodies the grace of historical structures and the bustling activity of shops, restaurants, activities, and growing businesses. It also includes a thriving corporate structure with headquarters that serve international clients including Marathon Petroleum Company, Corporate Research International, and CentraComm. We also have headquarters for national and regional companies such as First Federal Bank, AR Marketing,and LaRiche Chevrolet.
The CEO will possess solid business leadership skills as well as demonstrated dedication and support for the advancement of young people. A minimum of 5 years’ executive leadership experience is preferred, ideally in the non-profit sector. It is expected that candidates will possess an undergraduate degree, with graduate degree preferred; or equivalent experience. In addition, we seek excellence across a broad range of executive and managerial functions including strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, business development, and non-profit board relations.
Personal attributes of the successful applicant will include dedication to youth development, and the drive to be the voice for boys and girls throughout the counties served. The CEO will be a person of strong ideals and integrity, courageous in doing what is right, a compelling speaker who can engage others in support of Camp Fire's mission, with dedication to diversity.
